BOO!

Angels and specters from the “Dark Side” served as the gate keepers at the sites selected for the BBRC’s second Halloween Hunt which took place last Saturday. Turning the heads of passers-by, twenty four members, in four teams of six, and clad in a wide array of costumes, wove their way through the streets of Fairhaven between the High School and Fort Phoenix on their way to the six venues situated throughout the town. Upon arrival, each member of the randomly selected teams rowed, performed a task, created a work of art (?) or used their wits to solve a puzzle to earn points for their team.

Once back at the Sail Loft, the points were added up and it was the team sporting the Blue Bandanas consisting of Jackie Duval, who triumphed. Best costume award, voted by the participants, went to the “lady in red”, Dave Fish whom you may have met on the Tuscany Bike Trip or the hike to Acadia. It must be all his athletic pursuits that make for those very shapely (to die for) legs!

A final feature of the Hunt was the puppet show where the teams acted out some part of their day’s adventure (usually a faux pas) and which also was included in the point count. Team Orange, quite unique with a musical rendition of their rowing segment took first place.

As with all BBRC events, after all was said and done, it was “bring on the food!” and chowder and harvest soup was provided by Bill Anderson and Elsie Hacking. Also, for the hungry hunters, there were meatball subs, snacks, hot chocolate, cider, and goodies

Fortunately, once again, the weatherman proved to be wrong in predicting a showery day, and the whole Hunt was completed under cloudy skies and warm conditions. The Hunt is not offered every year so if you want to join in the fun next time, you’ll have to wait at least until 2009. (that’s a BOO WHO)
